Gibraltar Day Trip

day 1 - Tour with visit to the Rock of Gibraltar and St Michael's Cave
It looks and sounds like Britain but with the difference that it basks in the warm Spanish sunshine. Welcome to Gibraltar, the rocky outcrop that harks back to Britain’s imperial past, where the post boxes remain red, the currency is still sterling and the Union Jack flies high over the hilltop Moorish castle.

Highlights
- Choose from what’s on offer to best suit your needs
- Go dolphin watching and see the Bay of Gibraltar in all its glory
- Meet the wild macaques on the Rock of Gibraltar

This is a city where you breathe in the past at every nook and cranny. Choose between the different tours on offer and experience Gibraltar in all its glory.

The Rock of Gibraltar and St. Micheal’s Cave
During the Rock Tour, visit the Rock of Gibraltar, the symbol of the colony. Marvel at the miles-long network of tunnels, which was built during World War II when the city was of massive strategic importance. These were used to provide refuge for thousands of Gibraltarians during air raids.

The Gibraltar with caves option heads to the very top of the Rock of Gibraltar, which has more than 150 caves inside, including the 300 metre-high St Michael’s Cave, to marvel at the views of Africa and the Bay of Gibraltar and head into the caves. Meet the troops of wild Barbary macaques, the only population of such monkeys in Europe. Legend has it that as long as they are on the rock, Gibraltar will remain British.

Dolphin Watching
Or set sail on our award-winning dolphin boat trip to go in search of wild dolphins. The skipper and crew will share all their knowledge about dolphins. It also offers a great chance to view the rock from a different perspective. If you like, you can book the boat trip on its own. Although, bear in mind that the boat option is only available in summer.

Granada

About the city

The Muslim rulers of Granada adored and adorned this provincial capital. Ignore the low apartments of Granada and look up: the majestic clay-red Alhambra palace looms against the Sierra Nevada, Europe’s sunniest ski slopes. And the refreshing coastline is also nearby. The Alhambra, the red one in Arabic, is an Islamic monument of universal fame ad unfaded grandeur, built on a hill covered with splendid woods and gardens. The numerous courtyards and rooms inside the palaces of the Casa Real are among the finest examples of Mudejar art and architecture. Constructed after the Reconquista of Granada to replace the mosque on the site, the Cathedral of Granada is the first purely Renaissance cathedral is Spain. The Royal Chapel, reached by a separate entrance, contains the elaborate tomb of Ferdinand and Isabella, along with Isabella’s splendid private art collecting. South of the Cathedral is the Albayzin, the old Arab quarter, a set of winding alleyways with Moorish-style archways decorating the walls. Granada is famous for its holy week celebrations, which include festivities and processions. For less cultural diversion, stick to the student pubs around the university.

Alhambra Entrance Ticket and Audio Guide of Granada

day 4 - Tour
See Granada through the eyes of a local with this audio guide tour and Alhambra admission package.

Highlights
- Admission to all the palaces and gardens including Alcazaba, Nasrid Palaces and Generalife
- Four fascinating routes of the city.
- Audio guide prepared by the city’s official chronicler

The audio guide has more than five hours of narration and is valid for 48 hours. Commentaries have been especially prepared by the city’s official chronicler for four fascinating routes: Muslim (which includes the Alhambra), 17th century, Landscape, and Baroque. The Alhambra general admission allows you to visit all the palaces in the complex as well as the Generalife Gardens.

The Muslim Route covers the Alhambra and its environs, giving you the lowdown on this breathtaking complex. The general admission allows access to all the palaces and garden such as the Alcazaba, Nasrid Palaces, Generalife and Palace of Charles V. The views overlooking the city are stunning.

The 17th century Route focuses on the city centre and Realejo district, which was where the city’s sizable Jewish community lived until the Christians captured Granada in 1492. Its labyrinthine alleys of white walls with copious vegetation are the essence of old Granada.

The Landscape Route takes in the Albaicin and the Sacromonte barrios. The Albaicin was the Muslim quarter and is a maze of cobbled lanes that occasionally open onto plazas boasting romantic views of the Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada. Sacromonte is famed for its cave dwellings, traditionally inhabited by gypsies.

The Baroque Route centres on the medieval streets of old town, where the cathedral – an eclectic mix of Gothic, Renaissance and baroque styles – and markets are to be found.
