About the destination: Kalamata is located on the Ionian Sea, toward the center of the Gulf of Messinia, and towards the eastern side this town lies the little high though famous mountains of Mount Taygetus, culminating in the Mani peninsula and separates to the Laconia Messinia, taking Laconia capital to Sparta. Kalamata has an important tourist port (very frequented by boats); and it is, on the other hand, the biggest shopping centre of the Peloponnese after Patras. About the destination: It is the capital of the prefecture built in the middle of a valley surrounded by Artemisio, Parthenios and Mainalo mountains.
