Lübeck

Über das Reiseziel: Lübeck is a medieval city in Schleswig-Holstein, the northernmost state of Germany. It is located on the Trave River, and is the largest German port city on the Baltic Sea. Because of its extensive Brick Gothic architecture, it is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Lübeck is the Queen of the Hanseatic League. Go on a voyage of discovery through the historic Old Town. Lübeck's medieval center was declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1987. The rich substance of valuable historic buildings from the different ages can still be admired. The Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Classical buildings, the alleys, churches, monasteries and fortifications all blend together to create a uniquely uniform image - nestling in a bed of water and green. The Lübeck Town Hall stands its elegant, dark and varnished brick construction on a gallery of arcades in the old town tradition. In front of the north wing a Renaissance frontage of sandstone was added. It is one of the most important tourist attractions.

Hamburg

Über das Reiseziel: Bremen is a city in northern Germany, population 500,000. Bremen was once a member of the medieval Hanseatic League and is still one of the most important cities in northern Germany. Bremen has more than 1200 years of history, and was, for most of its existence, an independent city-state. Bremen is a rather long and narrow city, lined along both sides of the river Weser. The entire city is located on flat plains. The most important sites to visit in Bremen are: • Rathaus this is one of the finest in Europe and as such has been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. • Dom St Petri (Cathedral of St Peter) is over 1200 years old, and its huge towered façade dominates the main square. the interior is impressive with some fine painted details on the ceilings. There is a treasury displaying the collection of the cathedral. • Roland this statue on the main square is of the Knight Roland who was a protector of trade. It appears in many European cities especially those involved in the Hanseatic league. Bremen's is considered one of the finest and is included with Town Hall on the World Heritage List. • Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten (Town Musicians of Bremen) perhaps the most well known figures associated with Bremen are the characters from the Brothers Grimm Fairy Tale, their image adorns many of the souvenirs in the city • Böttcherstrasse, is the incredible Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) street that runs from the main square towards the river. There are many fine façades and courtyards all with large amounts of design detail. There is an impressive Glockenspiel that chimes at regular intervals. There are lots of shops and several Museums, including the impressive Paula Modersohn-Becker Museumg Himmelssaal (unfortunately it is not normally open to the public). • Am Wall is a lovely park next to the former defensive moat which offers a nice place to sit and relax. • Schnoor this area of twisting lanes is a lovely place to wander aimlessly looking at in the many shops and also at the world smallest hotel.

Hannover

Über das Reiseziel: The city of Hanover, known for large fairs like computer show CeBIT, is located on the bank of the river Leine and it’s the capital of Lower Saxony. Today Hanover is known as an industrial and economic center. Destroyed by two-thirds in 1945, Hanover provides limited authentic historical sites. The old city, Altstadt, was partially rebuilt in a medieval style. Only Herrenhausen gardens, designed in the 18th century, perpetuate the baroque splendor of this princely city. Nonetheless, the Altstadt is great for an unhurried rest where you can walk on narrow streets, visit Markt Church and Old Town Hall. One way to visit most of the city sights is to follow the red line with its numbered attractions. Following the so called red route visitors will see Kroepke Square, new town hall, the building of the local opera, Sprengel Museum, Kestner Museum, and the museum of Lower Saxony. Hanover has many attractions, an international atmosphere, numerous events and exhibitions for all ages and tastes. The city life beats all year: from the blasting spring festival, or the impressive Festival of Fireworks to the romantic Christmas markets.

Wolfsburg is quite a modern city having been built, in the main, in 1938 on to house workers from the newly built VW factory Wolfsburg is famous as the site of Volkswagen AG headquarters and factory of the world’s largest automaker. However, its castle dates from 1600 and today houses the Stadtmuseum. It has a rundown of the city's history from 1938, when the VW plant was founded, to the present day. There's also a small regional history museum and two art galleries that host rotating exhibitions.

Berlin

Über das Reiseziel: Capital city of Germany, Berlin is one of the most thrilling and the most historic place in Germany and in Europe. No other German city has more "visible" history to offer, despite all the scars of WW2 and the division during Cold War times. No other German city has such a rich cultural life. Berlin's architecture is quite varied. It is now possible to see representatives of many different historic periods in a short time within the city center, from a few surviving medieval buildings near Alexanderplatz, to the ultra-modern glass and steel structures at Potsdamer Platz. Because of its tumultuous history, Berlin remains a city with many distinctive neighborhoods. Belin has so many faces. It is attractive, cosmopolitan, multicultural and multiethnic city with very friendly locals and lots to do and see.
